Parabole Chair

Æ//

Chairs have been used since antiquity, although for many centuries it was a symbolic article of state and dignity rather than an article for ordinary use. The design of the Parabole Chair refers to this original function of a “throne”, evoking a sense of regality.

The name of the chair is derived from the unique backrest detail, where the wood is hollowed out,  creating a striking juxtaposition between material solidity and the void within the curvature.

For ÆTHER/MASS, collaboration multiplies what is possible by getting access to the skills that have been mastered by others. For the making of this object, we worked closely together with CasimirAteliers, master woodworkers specialised in high-end solid wooden furniture.
